Positioned in the southeast of the country and reputed to be the second largest city in the Czech Republic, Brno stands out, in addition to its beautiful nature, in the Erasmus plus program because for many years the Masaryk Pharmaceutical University has been offering a large selection of workshops, the most famous of which are Academic Communication and Presentation Skills. Our colleague Ivana Šalinović, who stayed there from June 6 to 10, 2022, also decided on one of them under the guidance of Filip Kňažek.
How did you decide on the Academic Communication program and what did the program consist of?
The program attracted me because in the description it was written that it was designed for anyone interested in actively working on themselves, and that the entire program focuses on improving communication skills and relationships with a special emphasis on the university environment and the ways in which communication is built from an individual through teams, groups and even the entire university or the public. During the whole week, we learned about the differences between people, similarities/connections, we learned what verbal and non-verbal language is, what online communication looks like, how to achieve better team efficiency and many other topics, thus fulfilling its main purpose, which was to provide useful tips and techniques that can be used in a business environment/daily life/interacting with others or even with yourself.
Did you have additional activities in addition to the formal part?
Unfortunately, the informal part was not organized in advance, but with excellent colleagues from France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and Hungary, the afternoon was more than full. The local guide showed us every corner of the city, such as the cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, the Špilberk Castle, the astronomical clock, and we used every free moment to see museums, parks, and we even visited the underground market, which they are extremely proud of. In addition to culture, the city offers a very rich gastronomic offer that is extremely affordable. Truly, an experience I would recommend to everyone.
