“I always knew I wanted to study abroad, but didn’t know what. When I found out what I want to study, I started searching right away. While searching, I found out about Aspira and Croatia. Split was very complementing with my wishes so I decided to come here. I would say it’s a big step, but it’s worth it. If someone is thinking about going abroad and finding their own way – do it, it’s very good!”
- To begin with, who is Gloria and how would you describe yourself in three words?
Gloria is 18 year old girl from Kostarika. I would describe myself as a hardworking, persistent and open minded person.
- You are a student of Aspira’s Hospitality and Tourism Management. What were your motives for enrolling?
I always knew I wanted to study abroad, but didn’t know what. When I found out what I want to study, I started searching right away. While searching, I found out about Aspira and Croatia. Split was very complementing with my wishes so I decided to come here.
- How satisfied are you so far with your studies, professors, but also with your engagement?
I am really satisfied, professors are really taking interests in teaching, I enjoy being here.
- What would you like to do in the future?
I would love to have my own hotel. Since I was little, I knew I want to work for myself, running a hotel, even a small one. I don’t know where – anywhere life takes me.
- Relying on that question, where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Probably still studying and hopefully working in some context of hospitality and tourism.
- Apart from studying, do you have any other hobbies?
I’m playing ukulele and I love to read, I read a lot. Besides that, I also love learning languages – I’m speaking Spanish, English and French.
- How much do your friends, colleagues, but also lecturers at Aspira motivate you to study?
They definitely have an impact, but I think I’m still the main one. Professors motivates me more, they are very professional at doing their job, I really feel like I’m actually learning. On the other hand, colleagues in that aspect not so much.
- What in your life motivated you the most to be the person you are today?
I find myself as an independent person, but I would say – my family. They are giving me a lots of advices, even though I don’t listen to them all the time, but I definitely take them into consideration. They motivate me the most. I have a sister and I always looked up to her. She is my motive for thinking about something, and my parents, mostly my dad, are my motive for actually doing something.
- What would you say to young people who are in a similar situation as you?
I would say it’s a big step, but it’s worth it. If someone is thinking about going abroad and finding their own way – do it, it’s very good.
- What were your motives for going abroad?
I love different cultures. Living in them is very different than being a tourist, in this way you live as if you are a local.
- Do you like the locals, culture, environment?
Yes, pretty much. People are very helping, not cold. I really like it here.
Thank you, Gloria! We want you to become exactly what you wished for, with Aspira holding your back!
