Aspira Students kept up their annual tradition of cooking for Split’s homeless population. Cordial relations between Aspira University College and FC Split Tommy Futsal club led to this praiseworthy initiative.
The humanitarian drive which initiated from the club’s young players met a strong response among Aspira’s student population. This is the second year of the drive in this shape and form in the period leading up to Christmas, and the third year overall. Besides providing meals for Split’s neediest, a secondary goal is to raise awareness about the importance of volunteerism and helping others. Social interaction and the opportunity to cook in Aspira’s gastronomy lab are an opportunity to add fun into the proceedings.
This year the menu included cuttlefish ink risotto and codfish in white sauce, with plenty of homemade bread, stuffed peppers and cakes. FC Split Tommy donated their van for delivery of food to the MoST Association which runs the Split homeless shelter. The citywide food drive is being organized for a sixth year running by the o La La večera Association.
