At the end of January, representatives of Aspira’s International Cooperation Office, Josip Radić and Petra Mandac, participated in the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH TRADITION.” The conference was organized as part of the GROWTH project in collaboration with the University of Herzegovina, the Biotechnical Educational Center Ljubljana – BIC Ljubljana, and Aspira College. It took place in Bijakovići, Međugorje, from January 31 to February 1, 2025.
The conference aimed to bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including members of the academic community, scientists, researchers, students, professionals, policymakers, and all those interested in exchanging experiences, knowledge, research findings, ideas, and information related to all aspects of sustainability and tradition as a partner in shaping a better future.
The goal was to explore how traditional practices, knowledge, and cultural heritage can contribute to sustainable development. This applies to all areas of human activity, as tradition is interwoven into every aspect of our lives. Can tradition be our teacher, and can we preserve it from being forgotten? These were some of the key questions, among many others, that conference participants sought to answer through discussions and presentations of their research and studies.
