“If this book helps only one hospitality worker or firm, I will be happy,” said the author of the book Igor Pavela.
Igor Pavela started to create this book by futher developing his authorized manual on hospitality industry management. Pavela has been actively involved in hospitality for more than ten years. He is currently engaged as the manager of Maslina Resort, the most luxurious Croatian 5-star hotel. He had previously been employed as a hospitality manager for one of America’s largest cruise companies. In professional engagements like these, he managed teams of hundreds and more employees and covered the entire hospitality sector of more than 20 different bars.
Dean Alen Jerkunica did not hide his happiness and pride. He said this book will be helpful to all hospitality workers.
“Apart from being our student, Igor is a man from industry. He managed to bring out the most important thing, and that is to convey his experience and his views of the standard of excellence. We all want to be successful, but only some get to succeed. In any case, every guest is looking for excellence and I think the book is very interesting. It gives the right knowledge and examples from industry and will be of great help to everyone “, said, among other things, the dean of Aspira, Alen Jerkunica.
“I congratulate Igor and all colleagues who helped and contributed to the creation of this book which will be useful to all hospitality workers. Thank you all “, added Alen Jerkunica, who was also an associate of the author in writing this book Excellence as a standard in hospitality industry.
Pavela gained experience in the hospitality in many different positions, from operational to strategic in top management. He worked closely and learned from top managers and CEOs of major international tourism and hospitality companies.
He often uses his educational materials, knowledge and experience to train the staff and management of hospitality firms with a customized program, achieving excellence as a standard.
“Thank you all for your help. This is a crown of many years of work. We wrote and deleted a lot, but we succeeded, the book is in front of us “, said the proud author Igor Pavela at the beginning.
He said he entered the world of hospitality very early. Already in his school days he started earning his ‘pocket money’ through waitering jobs.
“At one point, I saw hospitality from another angle. It is not just a direct transaction of the product. Hospitality is a need, a need for the body and soul. The hospitality industry is not on ‘shaky’ grounds due to the development of technology. We all need places to look for rest and relaxation “, explained Igor Pavela.
“Today in the hospitality industry there is no room for superficiality. People are the most important, the interior is not the most important, the approach to employees and managers is the most important and that’s where it all starts “, says Igor Pavela and continues:
“If this book will only help one hospitality worker or firm, I will be happy. Thanks to everyone who helped me, many of you are here today. I’m sorry everyone couldn’t come. Thank you all for the encouraging words, thanks to my family and friends who have always been my support, and big thanks to my sponsors”, said Igor Pavela.
In addition to the dean of Aspira College, Neven Šerić, the book’s editor, and Ivan Peronja from the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, the book’s reviewer, were present at the promotion of the book.
Apart from them, Daria Schrimann, the director of the Park Hotel, and Zrinka Lolić, the human resources manager of the Park Hotel, also attended the promotion.
