James Kennell is Director of the Economic Development Resource Centre at the University of Greenwich, London, where he is also Programme Leader for the BA (hons) Tourism Management degree and a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management. James’ research is primarily into the links between tourism and economic development and this has recently led him to become involved in projects including measuring the economic impacts of a year-long London festival programme.
Currently, James is completing a project that will produce the first national report on the economic impacts of the self-catering sector in England. James’ recent publications have included papers on cultural tourism and urban regeneration in Europe after the global economic crisis.
From this year, James Kennell works as a lecturer at the University College Aspira on the course Fundamentals of international tourism. The teaching is based on the fact that learning should be interactive and challenging.
Aware of the needs of the foreign language knowledge, teaching in English also represents a cross-cultural skill to achieve a better understanding of the language. Professor Kennell is extremely competent and motivated and encourages active involvement of participants in the learning process.
