Aspira College of Management and Design is the holder of the project ASPIRATUR-Education for jobs in tourism and hospitality as part of the Call for Project Proposals “Improving Access for Vulnerable Groups to the Labor Market in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector” of the Ministry of Tourism and of the Croatian Employment Service.
Together with partners Institution for employment, work and professional rehabilitation of persons with disabilities “DES” Split, Salve Regina-Marija Bistrica d.o.o. and Hoteli Brela d.d., Aspira will enable vulnerable groups to integrate into the labor market in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The project includes a round table and various workshops with stakeholders such as Croatian Employment Service, employers, professional associations and groups, restaurateurs and hoteliers, gastro journalists, agencies, members of target groups and institutions dealing with them who will generate guidelines for creating optimal training programs.
THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
By creating and implementing 3 training programs for a chef, waiter and sommelier, members of vulnerable groups will be trained to work in the tourism and hospitality industries and thus increase their competitiveness on the labor market. Professional training and improvement in the pedagogical skills of lecturers and mentors will ensure the implementation of the program and the achievement of project results.
THE AIMS OF THE PROJECT
- Strengthening of professional competences and development of pedagogical and methodological skills of experts from the tourism and hospitality sector (lecturers and mentors) for working with vulnerable groups
- Training members of vulnerable groups to work in the tourism and hospitality sector through the development and implementation of tailor-made training programs for the acquisition of professional knowledge and general competencies (soft skills) necessary for work as a chef, waiter and sommelier
HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THE AIMS
The aims will be achieved through the following activities:
- Analysis of needs and characteristics of vulnerable groups and development of tailor-made training programs
- Development and implementation of a program to strengthen the pedagogical skills of lecturers and mentors in hospitality professions and their professional development
- Implementation of a training program for a chef, waiter and sommelier adapted to vulnerable groups
SUSTAINABILITY OF PROJECT RESULTS
By creating and implementing the education program to strengthen the pedagogical skills of lecturers and mentors, a foundation is created for the possibility of more intensive creation and implementation of training programs for people with disabilities and the implementation of similar programs in the future.
Special importance in the project is given to informing stakeholders, primarily employers, about the possibilities and advantages of employing people with disabilities, as well as the legislative framework and procedures for employing PWDs as a special target group.
The project involves the cooperation of partners and associates, which is essential for a complete overview of the status of vulnerable groups. The implementation of optimal educational programs for vulnerable groups in the future will improve their competitiveness on the labor market.
