Aspira University of Applied Sciences held the Economic Council meeting, bringing together a wide range of representatives from industry, public institutions, and partner organizations. The meeting was opened by Dean Alen Jerkunica, who thanked the Council members for their continued support and close collaboration with Aspira, particularly in the areas of internships, curriculum development, and strengthening students’ connections with the labour market.
During the meeting, Jelena Tabak, President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy’s Hospitality Association, a certified translator, and owner of Dujkin dvor, was unanimously elected Chair of the Economic Advisory Council. In her address, she emphasized the importance of strong cooperation between higher education and industry, highlighting the vital role of internships in preparing students for successful professional careers.
The Council members were presented with an overview of the achievements and activities of Aspira University College during the past academic year. The presentation highlighted a number of successful initiatives, including the Career Day event, international activities, professional practice programmes, numerous scientific, professional and student projects, as well as events and activities in the fields of tourism, gastronomy, computing and sports management. Particular emphasis was placed on the continuous strengthening of cooperation with employers, the promotion of international mobility, and the development of lifelong learning programmes.

Career Day 2026
An important part of the meeting focused on discussing current labour market needs and the future development of study programmes. Employers and partners emphasised the importance of developing technical competencies, while also highlighting the growing significance of so-called soft skills. They stressed the need to adapt educational programmes to contemporary trends, such as artificial intelligence, and to further strengthen the connection between students and the business sector through projects, research activities and professional practice.


The meeting concluded with the commitment that Aspira University of Applied Sciences and its partners will continue working together to enhance the quality of study programmes, promote the transfer of knowledge and technology to the economy, and educate highly skilled and competitive professionals equipped to meet the challenges of today’s rapidly evolving business environment.
