Aspira’s student of Sports Management and a member of the Split Taekwondo Club, Matea Jelić, participated in the European Taekwondo Championship in Sofia from 8th to 11th April 2021.
In the eighth-finals, she defeated the Czech Stolbova with a break of 25:4, and in the quarter-finals, with the break 26:6, she defeated Furedi from Hungary. The semi-finals of the category up to 67 kilograms showed two real taekwondo classics with four protagonists: on one hand Matea and Magda Wiet Henin from France, and on the other hand Lauren Williams from Britain and Nur Tatar from Turkey. Matea Jelić celebrated and got to the finals after 8:8 in the regular three rounds and in the final round beat one of the best in the world, the British Lauren Williams with the result 13:10, and thus won the gold medal.
