Dr. Ivan Dević, research associate at Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences in Zagreb and an experienced reviewer in a journal editorial board held a workshop on “How to write and publish an article.” on May 26, 2021 at Aspira College.
The workshop debated ways to write and publish scientific and scholarly articles with efficiency and quality. Well-structured article and a suitable journal to publish it in are indispensable steps in the publishing process. Understanding the way editors and publishers think and knowing their expectations can certainly help ensure that an article is published in a quality journal. Workshop participants learned how to structure and write an article. In addition, they discussed the process of reviewing papers. Participants received answers to the questions: What is the difference between scientific and scholarly article, how to send an article for review, how to get in touch with the editorial board, how to position yourself after a negative review, ethics in research and publishing, what is allowed in the process publishing and what not from the perspective of authors and editors, which are the most common reasons for rejection, etc. In addition, participants received specific advice on how to write and publish scientific and scholarly papers as efficiently as possible.
