The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Agency for Quality Control and Assurance of the Republic of Montenegro launched the Erasmus + BAQUAL project – Better academic qualifications through quality assurance in June 2020.
The aim of the project is to encourage the application of qualifications frameworks in internal and external quality assurance procedures in higher education in these countries. All three countries have adopted relevant legislation to implement and use the qualifications framework to ensure and improve the quality of higher education within the objectives and principles of the European Higher Education Area.
Within the project, each country will develop a proposal for a qualification standard, improve existing or develop a new study programme or a lifelong learning programme, and finally conduct a “test” – external evaluation of the programme in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area. The three countries participating in the project will provide mutual support in the exchange of experiences, and rely on consultation with countries already experienced in the development of qualification standards and their use in quality assurance.
Planned activities include regular meetings of partners, as well as national working groups and experts within preparing draft proposals for occupational standards (where applicable, depending on the country’s qualifications framework) and qualification standards, and a programmes based on the standards developed. Our representative is our vicedean Petra Mandac. Once this work is completed, the programmes will be delivered. Moreover, in order to provide relevant information and foster the exchange of experiences among partners, working groups and experts, online workshops on methodologies and examples of good practice are planned, as well as study visits.
