A commemoration was held at Aspira College on July 20th in honor of the sudden loss of Aspira’s vice dean, prof. dr. Žarko Bilić, whose departure will leave a permanent trail on the academic, collegial, but also human level, because of his work and dedication with which he contributed to this community the best way he could.
The commemoration brought together almost all members of the professor’s immediate family, the director and dean of Aspira College, former deans of Aspira, students, fellow professors and other employees of Aspira, as well as many colleagues and friends who knew him.
Indeed, many beautiful words were said in all the speeches, commenting his hard work, his peculiarities of character and behavior of Professor Bilić:
“… He was a man with a big M…”, “… he knew how to recognize the need of another man, …”, “… it’s amazing how that man could love so much and never ask for anything in return.”, “He always said – a candle that lights another candle never loses its light, alluding to the empathy we must develop. He himself lit thousands of candles that way. “,” He was a solid pillar of Aspira who made us different from other institutions „”.
A particularly emotional moment for all was watching the video in which all the fragments of the professor’s speeches during his time in Aspira were collected, which showed exactly what all the speakers tried to emphasize by describing the professor: his selflessness, dedication and big heart.
We are sure that his departure will be felt for a long time, but at the same time we are very proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of his life and work.
