A ceremonial promotion for 87 bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science, sports management, and international management in tourism and hospitality took place at the Aspira University of Applied Sciences in Split on Wednesday, June 20. When students, instructors, family members, and friends celebrated this momentous day, the room was buzzing with excitement and pride.
With the knowledge and abilities they had gained from their education, the students entered a new phase of life prepared to take on new challenges. Mentors, instructors, and other University of Applied Sciences associates believe these young professionals have a bright future ahead of them.
Aspira is renowned for offering internships to students starting in their first year of study. Working with more than a hundred local and international partners, the focus is on practical knowledge taught by instructors with extensive real-world experience. As a result, students have the chance to study under eminent professionals who provide them both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for success in the workforce.
TIPS FOR THE FUTURE
These talented young people have completed their studies with exceptional success and are now ready to start their careers and contribute in the fields of tourism, sports and IT. However, according to the experts, now comes the hardest part of the job…
Experts from a variety of fields gave the new bachelor’s and master’s students at Aspira University of Applied Sciences advice and messages to help them succeed in their future careers, just as they had done during their studies.
The director of ŽNK Hajduk and spokesperson for KK Split, Ozren Maršić, stressed the value of ongoing education and putting newly acquired knowledge into practice.
Enjoy today, remember this day, but don’t think it’s the end – you have a tough road ahead of you. You are a young generation that is a pleasure to work with. Be what your professors taught you to be and you will certainly not make a mistake – said Maršić.
The general manager of AC Hotel Split, Damir Lukić, highlighted the value of bravery and perseverance in achieving success.
Tomorrow marks your official entry into the workforce, and I have a message for my prospective colleagues in the tourism industry. Being able to live and work in one of the most breathtaking places on earth is a huge honor and privilege. You are the only one who can ensure that Croatia will continue to be the pearl of the Mediterranean—but only in a sustainable manner. Although this institution has provided you with a solid educational foundation, experience is still extremely important. Lukić underlined, “Be bold, sure of yourself, and self-confident,” and wished the students luck.
Kruno Munitić, Senior Backend Developer at Unique People Croatia, addressed future colleagues in IT, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning and enjoyment of work.
The most important thing is that you are happy and that your work is like a hobby, more of a pleasure than an obligation. Be persistent and persistent. Maybe some things won’t fit in the beginning, but with time everything will come into its own. Lifelong learning follows… Don’t see it as a task, but as something you will enjoy – said Munitić.
“THROUGH Aspiration TO THE STARS”
Aspira University of Applied Sciences encourages its students to have an entrepreneurial spirit, enabling them to develop their own ideas and a successful career. A diploma is proof of hard work, commitment and acquired knowledge and skills. The Dean of the University of Applied Sciences, Alen Jerkunica, points out that only the most persistent finish their studies, which is also true in the business world…
Your professional development is just getting started. You have a lot of learning and research, ups and downs, and trials ahead of you. Don’t give up on your aspirations, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. Have faith in your concepts, persevere, and never give up. Your chosen career will occupy a significant portion of your life. You can’t be truly satisfied unless you do what you love and do it exceptionally well. Keep searching if you haven’t found it yet, and don’t accept anything less. You are our legacy, and we are your beginning. You will make us proud. “Good luck,” the dean remarked.
The quality of the study is best illustrated by its students and the successes they achieve during and after their studies. This year, Ivona Bosančić Lasić, a student of International Management in Hotel and Tourism, and Luciana Šimunac, a graduate student of Hotel and Tourism Management, received special recognition for their success.
We came to get a degree, but we already have our jobs and careers and we wouldn’t be where we are without Aspira. Today we are celebrating – said Ivona proudly.
The ceremonial promotion at the Aspira University of Applied sciences was imbued with emotions, pride and inspirational messages. After the inspiring speeches and the distribution of diplomas, there was a toss of caps and snacks and socializing for all present. The closing words of one of the best students, Ivana Bosančić Lasić, best described this special moment: “This is not the end.” To be continued…”
