Aspira College organized 6th Career Days, but this time in virtual form, which in no way diminished its attractiveness. Even though we even considered cancelling due to the epidemiological situation, we concluded that our students and partners did not deserve that we back down – said dean Alen Jerkunica in his welcome speech. Organizing this event online was challenging, but now we can say that now we are richer for that experience as well.
During the first day of the event, two round tables, i.e. panel discussions, were organized. A panel discussion “From student to developer” was organized for Computer Engineering students, and a round table on “Sport during te pandemic” was organized for Sports Management students.
Moderated by Tina Tomičić from Split Tech City; Aron Mišerda, Cofounder in Pseudocode, Vedran Marušić, Head of operations in Typeqast, Srećko Tomasović, Engineering Manager / Architect in Human Resource Cloud and Denis Fusek, technical manager in Lama and president of the IT Professional Group spoke about developments in the field of programming and IT sector in general. Of course, it was an opportunity for the audience to hear firsthand not only projections for the future that are of particular interest to today’s students, but also to hear the motives of today’s successful IT professionals for choosing computer engineering and programming as a career.
The round table with the topic “Sport during the pandemic”, moderated by Ozren Maršić, gathered an interesting group – journalist Zdravko Reić, epidemiologist Jasna Ninčević, MBA student of Sports Management at Aspira and basketball player of KK Split Pavle Marčinković, director KK Split Edo Blažević and, via video link, Zlatko Dalić, Croatian football manager, and Hrvoje Vejić, a former football player who won two championship titles with Hajduk, two Croatian Cups and one Super Cup.
The second part of Aspira’s Career Days was focused on students of Gastronomy and International Management in Tourism and Hospitality, who in large numbers, more than a hundred, attended the round table “The future of tourism – how to adapt to new travel habits” moderated by Ivana Kolar. The discussion was attended by Edmondo Šuran, head of the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship Development at the Agency for Rural Development of Istria, Denis Ivošević, director of Istria County Tourist Board. Igor Nekić, General Manager of Terme Sveti Martin and Hrvoje Veselko, President of the Management Board of Sunce Hoteli. All participants of the Career Days were greeted by Joze Tomaš, President of the Split County Chamber of Commerce.
We are sure that this year’s Career Days were a great starting point for many successful careers of our students!
