The Sports Management study program is a well-rounded curriculum providing competences to work in sports or economy. Further education may be continued on specialist graduate study program of Sports Management.

The curriculum of the professional study of Sport Management consists of the core subjects, i.e. the compulsory program content, and the proposed electives, which can make a good choice, but may be exchanged for elective courses from other study programs or other higher education institutions.

Apart from the proposed electives, students may choose between all other courses implemented at Aspira University of Applied Sciences as their electives.

Who is it aimed at

A curriculum of Sports Management Aspira is aimed at education for performing management functions in sports associations and other business systems, as well as educating managers, sports agents and sports companies and, finally, implementing sportsmen, who have finished their professional careers, into the business world.

Aim

The education aim is to gain complete competence of a sports manager which is achieved through sports organizations governance by applying management processes, techniques and skills.
Due to the large proportion of economical subjects, students are going to be capable of performing numerous other jobs that require business knowledge, manager’s competence and skills.

Schedule of studies

The college studies last for 3 years (6 semesters) and are performed as regular and Associate degree. Upon completion students receive, in accordance with the  Bologna Declaration, 180 ECTS and the academic title:

PROFESSIONAL BACHELOR (baccalaureus (m)/baccalaurea (f)) in sports management – bacc.

Learning outcomes

The projected learning outcomes acquired after completing the study program of Sports Management provide the students with knowledge and skills to:

  1. Recognize the importance and role of sport from both the aspect of the society and individuals in terms of developing their entrepreneurial activities
  2. Identify skills related to development planning and management of product and service offerings
  3. Apply marketing concepts to the sports industry
  4. Create a marketing strategy for company development
  5. Critically judge the main economic laws in business
  6. Prepare financial statements in accordance with the law and international accounting standards
  7. Analyze the performance of sports organizations and companies
  8. Apply legal acts and laws in business
  9. Assess business risks and create an adequate business plan accordingly
  10. Use modern technologies in everyday business
  11. Combine applied mathematical methods for making strategic business decisions
  12. Communicate appropriately in a foreign language in a business environment
  13. Apply the principles of sustainable development to business and recognize the negative and positive effects of the development of the sports industry on the environment
  14. To identify the role of sports medicine as a key factor in the development of competitive sports and recreational and health-oriented sports activities
  15. Design a work plan for a sports organization using methods of assessment and development of human resources
  16. To create sports and recreational facilities as an additional offer of the tourist destination
  17. Distinguish the goals that an exercise process must have in order to be the subject of interest of kinesiology science
  18. Evaluate the importance of the historical aspect of the development of sports when creating sports and recreational content
  19. To determine the functioning of sports organizations in a changing market environment
  20. To identify scientifically based and theoretically explained knowledge about the complex process of training, competition and recovery of athletes

Guest lecturers

The acknowledged Croatian, as well as foreign, experts in the fields of sports and management will give guest lectures and practice classes.

Practical lessons

Practical lessons are held in different sports organizations, clubs, alliances and other institutions, from those amateur to the professional ones. Students take part in work specially in the organization of sports manifestations (matches, tournaments, etc.)

Working while studying

Working while studying is coordinated for the employed people and active sportsmen who can’t attend classes due to their obligations.
