Aspira University of Applied Sciences from Split is organizing a training program for marina managers.
The aim of the program is to enable marina managers to acquire new knowledge and skills in modern marina management as well as to formalize the previously acquired knowledge and experience in order to improve the quality of operation in their marinas.
This training program has been approved by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.
The training program includes the following topics:
- Function of management in marina,
- Modern marketing strategy of nautical tourism
- Financial indicators of the operation of marina,
- Assessment of financial risks (Risk management by DNV&GL),
- Modern technical conditions of navigation and operations in marina,
- Legal aspects of nautical tourism,
- Ecology of nautical tourism (Sustainable eco-system in marina, BALMAS Project),
- Competitiveness of Croatia in terms of nautical tourism,
- Trends in chartering,
Each unit includes a practical part, exercises and workshops.

This program is implemented in collaboration with the Maritime Education and Training Center Atlantis and Marina Frapa where the practical part of the program will be held.
Upon successful passing of the final test, the participants get a license of training for Marina Managers.
In addition to the basic certificate, the participants will receive a DNV & GL (Det Norske Veritas Adriatica & Germanischer LIoyd) certificate for Risk management.
The training program will be held in English.

Reception is the central point of marina operations. It is important for a nautical tourism port to have a quality staff who can respond to the contemporary demands of this industry.
The aim of the program is to enable the attendants to acquire new knowledge and skills for the contemporary work at the marina reception.
The main task of a marina receptionist is professional handling of guests/navigators while providing other marina services.
A receptionist has to have organizational, communication and professional skills for everyday marina operations.
The program provides the training of attendants for:
- The modern way of doing business at a marina
- Financial operations of a marina
- Developing modern marketing activities
- Developing communication skills
- Improving the knowledge of foreign languages with an emphasis on nautical terminology
- Working with Marina Master software for the overall marina operations, as well as for other units related to the reception operations
The practical part of the training is organized in a marina where the attendants can gain insight into the operations of a marina reception.

Training program for Head of marina operations/marina Captain provides acquiring new knowledge and skills in the modern management of marina operations, and the opportunity to formalize previously acquired knowledge and skills.
The job of Head of marina operations is very complex because it requires exceptional management skills and knowledge from everyday nautical and logistic operation of marina. Apart from technical management of marina, Head of marina operations (marina Captain) coordinates marina operations with marina manager.
The program is specific because it is implemented in cooperation with Maritime Education and Training Centre Atlantis, and provides education for the future marina captains in accordance with the STCW 95 convention.

Head of marina marketing represents an important segment in systematization of workplaces in every marina. Nowadays, when the operating conditions and the customers’ preferences are changing rapidly, Head of marketing needs to have skills and knowledge to predict future market trends, and find the right way to adapt to these trends.
The primary tasks of Head of marketing are market research, developing marketing strategies for marina, and defining instruments to implement that strategy.

The aim of Training program for Head of financial department of marina is to create professional staff which, along with the knowledge of the financial operations of a marina, recognizes market trends in nautical tourism in order to provide the most productive possible operation of own marina. Head of financial department of marina is the backbone of every marina that nowadays strives to accomplish successful operations. Throughout this training program the attendants will improve their knowledge of keeping business books, financial indicators, and reports which are required in making decisions in management, as well as other knowledge specific to finance in nautical tourism.

The aim of Training program for marina sailor is to train the existing marina sailors, dock handlers, technical staff, as well as everyone else who wants to master the skills and become a contemporary marina sailor.
Marina sailors are the last and staring component of everyday marina operations. Marina sailors are in daily close contact with guests/navigators and they represent the “face” of a marina. On the other hand, marina sailors are the final link comprising a compact unit in the functional system of marina.
Marina sailors need to have skills and knowledge which enable them to adjust to the real situation. Marina sailors file reports to marina Captain on the actual situation so that the Captain can make strategic decisions with the marina manager.
The program is specific because it is implemented in cooperation with Maritime Education and Training Centre Atlantis, and provides education for the future marina sailors in accordance with the STCW 95 convention.
